Babe In Arms Ceramic
Donor: Nuala Creed Value: $600
This body of work reflects the artists concern for the values we are passing on to the children of the world. My babies are sweet and precious as all babies are, but they carry with them lethal weapons that may well be their future if indeed there is a future for them. They need the protection of gas masks and hard hats for their survival in the toxic world of war they face. The contradictory symbols on the children’s clothing, religious icons and Disney-like characters on their gas tanks reflect our ambiguous value system.

Genesis. Lithograph 'limited edition' 91/98
Donor: Creators Equity Foundation Value: $600
Jesse Reichek's print, lithograph 'limited edition,' number 91/98. "The work of Jesse Reichek reflects a unique synthesis of painting and spirituality. He produced nearly 3,000 works during the second half of the twentieth century. Reichek was uncommonly disciplined, painting almost every day. For over half a century, these paintings have sought to express the structure of process, the process of creation, and the creation of relationship. Each painting is a focal, a sacred moment of creation for the viewer. The viewer becomes a partner in creation, generating sudden and unanticipated meanings. Reichek lived and worked in the countryside outside of Petaluma, California, with Laure, his wife of 55 years. He died on July 18, 2005." |
